Easter - What's it all about?
6th April 2009
Well, it's certainly not about the Easter bunnies or hot cross buns or chocolate Easter eggs, although these are the most common thoughts that spring to mind at the mention of Easter.
But what it's really all about is the remembrance and celebration of the greatest act of love ever bestowed upon mankind.
The death of God's Son, Jesus on a cruel wooden cross at Calvary approximately 2,000 years ago.
Not only did Jesus die for the sin of the whole world in order to bring forgiveness to all who believe in Him, but He also rose from the grave on the third day, overcoming death, hell and the devil on our behalf and He rose up triumphant and became the Saviour and Redeemer of all who would believe on His name.
This is why Easter is such a special celebration to the Born-Again Christian. It is the most significant event which is central to the Christian faith.
Without the sacrificial giving of Jesus' own life, not one of us could be saved or enter into eternal life and right-relationship with our loving heavenly Father.
So this Easter Sunday, remember what it's really all about and give some time to thank God for His most precious gift to man - JESUS!
